Tests

Blood tests are sometimes requested by the doctor. Some bloods need to be measured fasting and that usually means no food for 8 hours before the test. You can take a glass of water and take your medication but absolutely no food or other drinks. 

If your appointment is for blood testing, let the receptionist know when you make the appointment.

At the moment our blood samples are brought by special taxi on Tuesdays and Thirsdays at 12 oclock from both Lifford and Castlefinn Health Centres.

Some blood samples eg Warfarin must be transported reasonably promptly to the Laboratory in Letterkenny. 

Results

Results of blood tests, xrays, hospital investigations and correspondence or letters etc can take anything from a few days to several weeks to become available to us in the practice. Please allow time for our staff to get the results. 

One exception is Warfarin test results which we try and get as soon as possible (that day or the following day). Please ensure you call for the result as soon as possible.

We try and help patients with letters and results as soon as practicable.
